Learning Outcomes:
- Develop hands-on experience managing and creating content for professional social media platforms in a multi-branch media organization.
- Gain practical knowledge of social media strategy, audience engagement, analytics, and brand voice within a student-run media environment.
- Build a professional portfolio of social media content, campaigns, and analytics reports for career readiness.
- Collaborate effectively with media producers, marketers, and student leaders across Radio, Television, and Magazine branches.
Training:
- Comprehensive orientation on 22 West Media policies, branding guidelines, and social media standards.
- Hands-on training in social media content planning, scheduling, and analytics.
- Ongoing mentorship and feedback from the Assistant Director of Student Media, Student Media Manager, Marketing Assistant, and Social Media Assistant.
Tasks:
- Support the day-to-day management of 22 West Media’s social media platforms across multiple channels.
- Assist with planning, creating, scheduling, and publishing social media content that promotes shows, events, initiatives, and student involvement.
- Collaborate directly with 22 West Media branch leads (Radio, Television, Magazine) to promote branch-specific programming and content.
- Work closely with the Marketing Assistant and Social Media Assistant to support integrated marketing campaigns and brand consistency.
- Assist with basic social media analytics tracking, engagement monitoring, and reporting.
- Help coordinate promotional efforts with ASI Communications and the ASI Street Team, as needed.
- Attend and actively participate in biweekly 22 West Media meetings and other required staff meetings.
- Assist with live coverage, event promotion, and on-site social media posting when needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
- Familiarity with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office.
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, student-driven media environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Interest in marketing, media production, digital storytelling, or audience engagement.
- Knowledge of MAC and PC systems preferred.
Supervision:
- Supervised by the Assistant Director of Student Media and Student Media Manager.
- Works directly in support of 22 West Media branch leads, the Marketing Assistant, and the Social Media Assistant.
Internship Requirement:
To intern with 22 West Media, you must be a current student enrolled in an approved internship course for your major. Please ensure that you are registered for the appropriate course (e.g., CINE 492, JOUR 498, ART 442, COMM 492A) upon applying for internships. This helps ensure you receive deadline sensitive information from the internship course instructor regarding course requirements; it is easier to drop the course than it is to add it.
