The recreation therapy intern will support the Adjunctive Therapy department in providing high-quality, patient-centered therapeutic programming within an acute psychiatric setting. Under the supervision of a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), the intern will gain hands-on experience in assessment, treatment planning, and facilitation of therapeutic groups and individual interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and implementing daily therapeutic recreation groups and special events.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate recreation therapy groups using evidence-based interventions.
- Complete assessments, documentation, and progress notes within required timeframes (as appropriate to internship level).
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
- Maintain patient safety and adhere to all facility policies and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelors program in Recreational Therapy
- Eligible for or working towards CTRS certification
- Strong communication skills and interest in Behavioral Health
- CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
