Established in 1973, the Capital Fellows Program is one of the oldest and most distinguished service-learning programs and public policy fellowships in the nation. Each year, from hundreds of exceptional applicants across the country, only eighteen individuals are selected to serve in the California State Senate, a testament to their extraordinary promise and dedication to public service.
During their Fellowship, Senate Fellows help develop legislation, work directly with constituents, and develop the skills needed to make a difference in our communities and beyond.
Senate Fellows will serve at the highest levels of state government through hands-on experience in public policy, leadership cultivation, and community engagement. Senate Fellows will be able to develop and analyze legislation, negotiate with state agencies and stakeholders, and interact directly with the communities they serve.
