The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) provides free, expert, and confidential guidance on workplace accommodations and technical assistance on Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). JAN serves as a strategic resource that offers one-on-one consultation and identifies effective accommodation options across disabilities and job functions that support compliance with the ADA. As the nation’s leading resource for workplace accommodations and proven strategies, JAN supports the employment and retention of Americans with disabilities.
Each year, JAN responds to tens of thousands of requests from employers, workers, service providers, and others seeking individualized assistance. These inquiries directly inform new content for JAN’s publication library and evolving workplace accommodation strategies, tools, and examples. The AskJAN.org website offers step by step guidance, practical tools and resources, and a wide range of situations and solutions, enabling visitors to explore options independently or with help from JAN specialists.
In addition to direct consultation and practical tools and resources, JAN delivers extensive training, including live and on-demand webcasts, virtual training for organizations by request, and outreach tailored to human resource professionals, federal agencies, small employers, and organizations seeking to strengthen their accommodation programs. This assistance helps employers understand their responsibilities under the ADA and implement effective accommodations that meet workplace needs and foster employee success.
JAN is fully funded by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy under Cooperative Agreement No. 26475OD000008-01-00 through a two-year award totaling $7,000,000. JAN serves as a trusted partner across the American public and private sectors.
