Founded over 40 years ago as the Native American Finance Officers Association, NAFOA began as a gathering of Tribal financial professionals focused on developing the policies and procedures necessary for Tribal success. Since then, our mission has expanded to spotlight the vital role of Tribal finance in fostering economic opportunity and to support growing Tribal economies through sound economic and fiscal policy, innovative training programs, and forward-thinking leadership.

We build the skills of the next generation of Tribal financial professionals and convene Tribal leaders, experts, and partners to tackle the challenges of economic growth and change. Through strategic advocacy, resource development, and collaboration, NAFOA empowers Tribes to strengthen governance and exercise their sovereignty.

With over 180 Member Tribes, NAFOA is one of the largest Tribal organizations, providing exclusive policy briefings, early access to programs, and opportunities to shape discussions with federal partners and industry leaders.
