Serenella: So my name is Serenella Linares. I am the school programs manager here at Audubon Naturalist Society. I get the opportunity to design the experiences that children will have from all Montgomery County and DC when they came to us for a field trip or when we go to their schools. [Serenella] I also pilot such ideas and experiences and then train our volunteers and staff into how to execute them. As a naturalist, you should be able to observe the natural world around you. You should be able to identify a group of species that are at your local level and that you can talk to people about them. I was also walking this morning with 14 preschoolers and we discovered huge mushrooms and how they help the trees and all the little creatures that can come and eat from it like slugs or pill bugs or millipedes that will be crawling and getting all that sugar from the mushrooms. So first thing in the morning, I arrive and I look at emails, and I look at emails to see what schools we can still fit in our schedule, what are they needs, how can we modify what we're doing to fulfill those needs and how can we provide the best experience to the children and the teachers that come to us or that we go to them. Also communicating with the leaders, the staff that, "Okay, these are the people that are coming, "this is what I would like you to cover, "or let's emphasize that, "a lot of reinforcing positive behavior." We're working with our future, so I want that future to be as positive, as bright as humanly possible.
